In Massachusetts Bay, North USA
There's a small island, its name is Nantucket
And was the birthplace of an old sailor
Nobody remembers his name
But everybody knows his tale
It happened in 1810
And it began with the rain
On board of this ancient boat
He sang his song when he met the storm
Thunders, fog and tornados
T'was horrible and the ship vanished
"Oy you, did it sink to the bottom of the sea?
Maybe a whale swallowed everything?"
Everybody lit candles for his soul
But nobody forgot his song
I am a sailor, I live on the sea
The helm is my heart and the oar is my feet
My wife is this boat and me sons are the waves
My grave will be deep between lobsters and whales
Years after in sunny June
Somebody heard the tune getting closer and closer
The boat was golden now
The old sailor became the wealthiest captain
Had he found a pirate booty?
Or maybe made the old windmills empty?
Who cares 'bout the truth? He had returned
Singing his old famous song
I am a sailor, I live on the sea
The helm is my heart and the oar is my feet
My wife is this boat and me sons are the waves
My grave will be deep between lobsters and whales
If you sail through this part of the world
And you meet the captain and the storm
Then take a gulp of your bottle of rum
And sing this old sailor's song
I am a sailor, I live on the sea
The helm is my heart and the oar is my feet
My wife is this boat and me sons are the waves
My grave will be deep between lobsters and whales
I am a sailor, I live on the sea
The helm is my heart and the oar is my feet
My wife is this boat and me sons are the waves
My grave will be deep between lobsters and whales
