I was thinking about this James Baldwin quote
Where he basically says that people
Always tell him that progress takes time
And that, that's cute, but
It's taken his father's time and his mother's time
And his brothers, and sisters time, and his time, and
I, uh, I think I'm one of those people
Who's watching the idea of progress eat my life away
Oh, and-and not to be dramatic, uh, just, uh
I think that there are things that I care about, um
And there are things that I, uh
Things that I fucked up and things that I take ridicule for
And I, uh
I think I have to be strong
Because the ideas that I represent at Brave New World
But what if the world isn't that brave or that new? Um
But where is the safe place for someone like me?
