This is a letter to death
I have a lot to get off my chest
The other day you took a friend
Young, full of life, and with a sense of adventure
His passion was being a BMX rider
He was so smart that in his own barn he had built his own house
A car crash and it was over
Death you were so unjust
Then there was Gordo, my most friendly dealer
His name meant tubby and the wrong people thought he was a schemer
Truthfully he just wanted to change
They shot him dead and his father, just out of pure bad taste
Another innocent murder victim because drugs are illegal
Death, you love the black market
You show us no respect
Or is it us
Too conservative?
Whatever the case, another young body winds up in a coffin
And what about that girl called Sol, who wanted therapy?
Her name means sun
She got stuck in an anexo by accident, it called itself a clinic
Banged her head against the walls to get out
They tied her up and told her to shut up
I knew her sense of humor was sharp and she lived to be a nurse
She took her own life to add to the body count
That anexo oversaw three suicides in a matter of months
Still ignorants chose to praise that place and call it a clinic
Death how do you handle those who self-obliterate
Caused by neglectful environments and self-hate?
And all these lives died younger than me
In the space of a year I was in Mexico
And yet we Mexicans celebrate you like no other race
Adorn you with flowers, and sweets and bless the dead
Do you like us that bit more?
Death, you have me looking over my shoulder
And that day had me wondering
See I think you're a paradox
That you come and give us a chance
A choice - to forgive or to forget
To re-incarnate or to self-obliterate
I imagine there's always consent
Only death you never die to us
And life feeds off your memory
I guess, to me, you're that eternal monster or saint
For you exist in all life, even as I live my cells dies
I just was wondering why?
Death you give me the shivers and make me cry
Till we meet, it's just my legacy I decide
Death do you hear me?
Just calm down
You've had me looking over my shoulder
