Born as one, we lived as one, as close as close could be

Thirty years of side by side in body, heart and soul

To live each other's lives and learn each other's ABC

But every moment to wonder what a separate life would hold

So sister, come and take my hand, it's time to say goodbye

Here together at the end, just like the start

We've shared each moment through the years, each smile and every sigh

But in the end we shared too much to ever be apart

We've talked of things that no one else could know or understand

Imagined all the futures that could possibly unfold

We saw what even sisters' love could never quite withstand

There's only one way you and I could picture growing old

And so we take our chance, and so we make our choice

To stumble or to dance, to raise a separate voice

No doubt, no thought that either would put first the other's sake

But even now we know there was no other path to take
