What are you really going to ask yourself

When in ten years you don't have your expected wealth, huh?

What are you gonna tell yourself

When you see you don't have many trophies on your shelf, huh?

What I'm talking about here is success

If you don't have it, it doesn't mean you're a mess

'cause this thought is a result of society

Whose focus isn't on what we have but on the scarcity

Of things that we think we need

When all we're doing is planting a seed

Of necessity, that won't allow us to live in simplicity

And the worst part is that we actually accept willingly

To follow this pattern of living

Where certain things aren't done anymore

Like for example the act of giving

It got me wondering what I'm doing it for

Are you going after physical wealth?

Money's just a means to an end, but sometimes

I treat it like a queen and end up

Acting like an animal, picking up the scent

Of a new meal on which I get to spend

Purchase, purchase, purchase, purchase

And buy once again, until in the end

I'm just another man left wondering, searching within

An answer to the never-ending question of when

I'll proclaim that I've had enough

Of the things that can't buy me love

How long will I be enslaved?

Am I going to wait until the day I hit the grave?

I'm very tempted to postpone

Though I'm realising I can't condone

To let myself loose itself while holding on

To all those things that I think I own
