A grand descent, I plunge into the great below
A faint luminescence guides my path
These ancient stones, which line these claustrophobic halls
Suggest great wisdom buried in these subterranean depths
My lone footsteps
Act as my sole company in this damp, dark, and dreary domain
What could it be that drew me into these treacherous tunnels
Why that would be the Eternal City
Nokron
A scene of beauty is laid out before me
A canopy of stars cast light upon the massive cavern
There in the distance
I see them now, the cathedrals of old
The castles yonder beckon me into their crypts
Therein lies
The very dread of the outer gods
A weapon to sever
The connection between demigod
And the greater will
I shall now cut down all who dare to try impede my mission
Formless monks and maidens awaiting the dawn of the new age
They're dealt with all the same
Succumbing to the edge of my blade
The corpse of a giant lord now looms tall
Upon a pale white throne adorned with ash and now blemished gold
Beneath it lies a flooded field
A congregation immortalized in reverence before their lord
Their frozen corpses deep in prayer
Inhuman shrieks pierce my ears
A massive, scaled beast leaps down from above
Cannot discern whether this creature is of dragon or man
There is no escape, I must fight
Struggling to evade the dragonkin's blows
Piercing his chest, but his claws nick my own
Left gravely wounded, yet I must carry on my path forward
For my lord expects a most successful journey
Hark
In the dense mist
A silver form is taking the shape of me
My fragile form cannot keep up with this fraud
My parries weaken and I am soon swiftly disarmed
Time slows as the mimic's blade draws closer to part my vulnerable neck
I was fated to die in these ruins
Never to be seen again
My head rolls from my shoulders
Into the murk below
I traversed into the earth
To free man from the chains of gods
Felled among the eternal
Yet the world will forget me
Slaughtered
Why
So much unfinished yet here my corpse now lies
My soul has been claimed
By the Eternal City of Nokron
