Stopped by a Starbucks on my way to work
Noticed the tax that I was charged for this perk
Was substantially greater
Than the one I'd by later
At the gas station where
I used the tire inflater
Said the man in my head you know my inner voice
Tax you paid to the Fed well that was due to your choice
As I'm pumpin' the air
Thought to myself that's fair
Coffee is cheaper in there
I'm just paying my share
And then, a thought occurred to me
Why don't they tax my property
Just like they tax my hot coffee
Tax me once
Shame on you
Tax me twice
What am I to do
Property tax
Should be a sales tax too
You work for us
Yet, we're the ones that you screw
You tax me year after year after year after year after year
Just to replenish the cash you blew through
Now, it seems to me that the right thing to do
Is to only tax my land one time, not two..or more
Where is the fairness
Due to your own unawareness
And my bank account's bareness
Should leave you embarrassed
Tax me once
Shame on you
Tax me twice
What am I to do
Property tax
Should be a sales tax too
You work for us
Yet, we're the ones that you screw
You tax me year after year after year after year after year after year after year
Year after year after year after year after year after year after year
Year after year after year
Year after year after year
To replenish the cash that you blew through
I think what we need here is a coup
Shame on you
Shame on you
