I remember twenty something years ago
Sitting in the car beside my dad
Country roads was playing on the radio
My dad sang "take me home" and just like that
From that day I was a country fan
I've never been to Tennessee
Aint even born in the USA
But when I hear a fiddle I go wild
And I drink my whisky every night
I drive a pickup truck
Hoping that I'm country enough
Growing up, on dirt tracks every weekend
The plan was to become a racing star
And every night we'd crank up CCR and sing along
Picked up the Cort guitar I got when I turned ten
Looking back I knew right there and then
I've never been to Tennessee
But I will sing my songs there one day
And hear my story echo from the crowd
If I lose my voice I'll still play until every string comes off
Keep on til I'm country enough
I can't wait to cross the water
Where country roads might take me home
Who knows, where I'll go
I can't wait to see in color
The neon signs and honky tonks
I know, Im getting close
I've never been to Tennessee
But I will sing my songs there one day
And hear my story echo from the crowd
If I lose my voice I'll still play until every string comes off
And I know I still got miles to go but I ain't giving up
Not until Im country enough
Not until I'm country enough
