The root tasted like blood and rust

It coiled in my veins slow relentless

The earth stopped spinning

And the voice whispered: "Now we begin"

Every lie I ever told walked into the room

Every face I betrayed stared back at me

I saw myself naked screaming small

And the root said: "This is you All of you"

Time split into mirrors no escape no denial

I was the villain The coward The child

No excuse could save me No prayer could erase

The judgment was final The sentence my face
