I wish I had more memories
We pitched our tent in the dunes
Where the river met the sea
For a hundred miles around
It was just you and me
I wish I had more memories
Of our time together
Every word and every smile
I wish I could remember
We swam across the river naked
And slept under a tree
The shade shielded us
From 45 degrees
On your back I watched the shade
Of the branches and the leaves
Moving gently over your skin
In the Australian wind
My fingers tried to follow
The path the shadows chose
But they got lost, one by one
There was nothing I could do
We sat in quiet in the sand
So deep, so soft, so warm
Panting from the oceans surf
Our hair drying in the sun
The meals were simple
No music, radio, light
Listening to the waves and you
I laid awake at night
The days went by too fast
Although we took it slow
A picture is all that's left
An evening summer glow
