Trinidad, an island in the sun
Where my birthright belongs
The land my ancestors sailed to
And it's there that I was born
They came sailing
Across the rough oceans
To work in the cane fields
And the plantations
Bringing their curry
And their East Indian recipes
Playing their drums
And singing the songs of their ancestry
Cooking hot roti on a tawa
And Dhal, Rice, and Kuchela
Curry baigan, channa, and aloo
Curry goat with Congo pepper
Working to build a new foundation
Bring forth a new generation
And in this beautiful island, they now belong
Today, Trinidad has come so far
Together we aspire, together we achieve."
Filled with wealth and natural resources, and oil up its sleeve
