Sleepy town, heartland born
I landed there, amidst the corn
I was just a kid, that's just what you did
When your life ain't yet your own
My father's job had moved us there
He and mom made house, a home
Dad went to work at the factory
And I began to roam
Turned 16, tried fittin' in
Into the high school clan
Lasted a year, or maybe two
And out of school I ran
Sleepy burg, my little town
Your trains I hear a callin
Around the bend, around my heart
I reminisce so often
I often think about those days
When life's adventures called
I often wish I could go back
Some memories to resolve
I'd sit me down, and talk awhile
About my choices taken
I'd tell myself, it's all ok
You'll never be forsaken
From past mistakes, and past regrets
We all go down that road
But back again, my sleepy town
I think I've learned life's code
Worked two jobs, or maybe three?
No school, so I kept busy
Thought that I had known the way
My life's decisions easy
But soon I'd see the world ahead
It seemed to pass me by
So to night school, then to college
I had to make a try
Made it through, and moved away
But often I'd come home
My sleepy town would call to me
Through all the years I've grown
Sleepy burg, my little town
Your trains I hear a callin
Around the bend, around my heart
I reminisce so often
I often think about those days
When life's adventures called
I often wish I could go back
Some memories to resolve
I'd sit me down, and talk awhile
About my choices taken
I'd tell myself, it's all ok
You'll never be forsaken
From past mistakes, and past regrets
We all go down that road
But back again, my sleepy town
I think I've learned life's code
I kept it close, my sleepy town
Through all those early days
The things I learned, friendships made
Have brought me here to say
I'll not forget the comfort there
Or friendships that were given
My sleepy town, I love you so
You've made my life worth livin!
