Pushing her hands into the desert soil
Proves futile to the depths at which she's found herself
Longing for when the rational order of things carried her mind well
She tightens her grip on the particulate funnel and exerts
Burnt nostrils fill with past refuge
As her neck twists to navigate toward the surface
Just enough of the earth's burden is lifted
To bring her eyes to the frigid air
Lashes part and lenses ache
Only a horizon presents before dilation
With meager strength
She stands
To learn
To be
More discerning
I know it seems
(Like nothing else is right)
Where have
You been?
To force you so closed
It's hard to believe
That the weight of dying
Is nothing now
It's only pressing the issue
Of what makes us different now
Oh I'm pressing it to you
What we do not allow to change
Read it back
Bite your tongue
Read it back
Bite your tongue
Read it back
Bite your tongue
Read it back
Stumbling with no discernible direction
She carries herself onward
Head dragging limp body behind
"What reason was there to hide from the day
As nothing can be gotten from the night?"
Dawn fighting with the chance to be, unbeknownst
Luminosity
A past recollection filled with fear, sorrow
One must be faced if the present is to be surpassed
One must be forthright if the following days are any brighter
Extending out
Reaching toward the solar expectation
She persists
Weeping
Hoping to make it through
The fate of trying
It makes us new
It's only pressing the issue
Of what makes us different now
Oh I'm pressing it to you
What we do not allow to change
Where did you find
These scriptures?
Clutch them so tightly
(What's the meaning of it?)
Is it thoughtful
Always starting
With messy accusations?
(To accuse me always)
It's the fate of
Trying to be someone new
(Someone new)
Are we there now?
Are we there now?
