On the bright ring of Gullion
The heather's in bloom
And its purple is dotted
With rich golden broom
And the mountain is kissed
By a breeze from the sea
I think long on Slieve Gullion
And sweet Drumante
On many an evening
I rambled the fields
With the dusk falling softly
My dog at my heels
And the lark soaring high
Sang his song just for me
At the foot of Slieve Gullion
Near sweet Drumante
There was singing and dancing
And good times galore
And the fiddle sang sweetly
Through window and door
And the girls were as lovely
As lovely can be
Round the foot of Slieve Gullion
And sweet Drumante
I have ploughed and I've harrowed
And I've worked in the bog
I have hunted the hare
Just myself and the dog
And I pray that my neighbours
Like the hare will be free
Round the foot of Slieve Gullion
And sweet Drumante
I have travelled the world
And seen many a sight
I worked hard for a living
By day and by night
But I've finished with rambling
Please God I'll soon be
With my friends round Slieve Gullion
And sweet Drumante
Drumante
Drumante
I think long on Slieve Gullion
And sweet Drumante
