Thinking back to the days
Before I saw her face
In the light of each Christmas display
Folk still chose to believe
On a cold Christmas Eve
They had cause to be jolly and gay
I hid under a chair
And I sat watching there
For the man I thought soon must pass through
But you’d never arrive
So I had to survive
With the knowledge not all dreams come true
I no longer believe in the lies
Though the truth at first was a surprise to me
The faith I had in you suddenly dissolved
It’s another mystery solved
Came home early that night
When the snow shone so bright
Peace and stillness did the world enwrap
I sat down to await
She’d said she’d be home late
Drifted off into a Christmas nap
She had me believing again
All magic might not be pretend
I sat up in my chair
Woken by the great blaring
Of ecstasy under the tree
Naked forms writhed conjoined
Then my love was purloined
Saw her whisked away up the chimney
