We met where two streets refused to meet

You pointed left, I pointed right

And we laughed like we'd been arguing for years

Your coat was too thin for the wind

Mine was too heavy for the season

We traded stories about places we didn't belong to

You said home was just where the rain knows your name

I said I'd been dry for too long

We walked without looking for signs

Past every place that could have been a start or an end

Maps we never needed

Folded in our pockets while the city forgot

We were strangers

The cafe light flickered like it was inviting us in

We stayed until chairs stacked on tables

And the floor smelled like soap and old coffee

Outside the streets felt soft and like they'd been listening in

Maybe it's not the place

Maybe it's who you find there
