So my friends, keep your eyes and ears open, especially to this
Political correctness. I'm telling you, they're changing everything
Last week I told a joke, I said, "My grandma's going deaf, we
Can't afford a hearing aid, so we just stopped talking to her."
A woman stopped me in the lobby, she said, "The term is
No longer 'deaf,' it's 'hearing impaired.'" I said, "
Well, it doesn't matter what you say, she's gotta hear it."
Now why are they changing words on us? They say it's to make
Everything more sensitive. But my friends, everything
Isn't sensitive. There are some hard realities that must
Be dealt with in life, and they have to have a word for them
To define them. Changing a word don't change a condition
Look at this word. How about this word? Ugly. Ugly. Ugly. Ugly's
A great word. When you say ugly, everybody knows what you're talking
About. What are you gonna change it to, "facially challenged"?
The media no longer uses the term "poor." It's insensitive
They use "disenfranchised" or "underclass," that sounds worse
Than being poor to me. And poor people get some attitudes
I was watching CNN last week, there was a guy in a welfare office
Complaining he had to wait six hours for his check. I thought
"Gee, I gotta wait 40 for mine, and work for the damn thing."
And it's just not words they're changing, they're changing signs on
Us. The greatest sign this country ever had was, "Walk, don't walk
" Remember that sign? "Walk, don't walk." And then they spent millions
Of taxpayers' dollars to change that sign to a stick figure and a
Hand. Now what does that mean? Why did they change that? What the
Hell is this all about? And I've asked people across this country
Why did they change that sign? You know what
People tell me? "Well, a lot of people don't know
How to read." Hey, to hell with those people!
We had to learn how to read, why can't they learn how to read?
Let 'em get hit by a car! Hey, god damn it, learn how to
Read! "Walk" isn't a big word. If they don't have the
Imagination or desire to learn how to read, what is that hand?
What is that, "patty cake, give me five"? What is that god
Damn hand?! They might stand there and wave back. "Aaaaaah!"
