I watched them walk the castle walls

While scrubbing floors in servant halls

I bore no name I wore no grace

Still saw myself in their face

They laughed and danced while I poured wine

Their voices soft their robes divine

But every glance I tried to steal

Felt like dreams I wasn't meant to feel

I saw my face in theirs sometimes

A mirrored trace they'd never find

The priest would nod but never speak

Of truths that lived beneath my cheek

I stitched their cloaks I brushed their steeds

I bowed unseen among the reeds

But deep within my vow was made

To earn the worth their blood betrayed

I dreamed of you my family unknown

A silent ghost beneath your throne

So I took up a soldier's blade

Left rags behind and learned the trade
