First rode a plane when I was nine

Mom left that piece of shit for good

In summer days, she'd always say

"Life's better from where we stay"

But winter would come, I'd stare outside

She'd see the longing in my eyes

And over there, I never belonged

By the time I turned eighteen

Got a one-way ticket back here

I saw it pictured in my mind

The perfect homecoming fantasy

So I take the trips, the shots to prove

The promise of this island dream

Where a welcome is a warm embrace

As if I've never left this place

I've been searching for so long

For a place where my feet can touch the ground

Tired of going from stop to stop

Looking for a reason to stay

I think I found a place to land

But stories only last a day

Along the school hall, I was playing my little game
