We were originally writing for this artist named Teddy Swims
If you're not familiar with Teddy Swims
You should be, 'cause he's incredible
I featured on his record last year on a song called "Broke"
I remember having this title on my phone
Called "Maybe Some Angels Don't Have Wings"
Meaning, like, there's a lot of people in your life that literally
Feel like angels on Earth because of how much
Grace they have and how much patience they have
And how they kinda help you through a hard time
And I'd never really written a song from
That perspective about me and Lauren
But there's definitely been times in our marriage where
I've been like, "How do you put up with me?" You know?
Like, "How do you deal with my crap on a daily basis?"
So this song kinda started for Teddy
And then Teddy was like, "Man, I feel like this feels like you"
And so I put my vocal on it and I about cried singing the vocal
I remember playing it for Lauren and she loved it
And it's a little bit more dark than I usually go in my songwriting
And especially putting songs like that on my record
But I just felt like it was really needed for this project
And, man, uh, just such a beautiful track
And, and I think that, um, there's a lot of people out there
That can relate to this song with their significant other
