On a hill called Calvary, long before our time began
A single lamb was slaughtered for the sins of every man
He hung there in the darkness, blood running down the wood
Gave His life for every nation, every soul that ever stood
No army, no rebellion, just a whisper in the night
"Father, forgive them," then He rose in morning light
From that first Easter morning, the stone was rolled away
He conquered death forever, so the broken hearts could pray
Then in 1916, on another Easter week
A band of Irish dreamers made the tyrant's tower shake
Piers read the proclamation, Connolly stood tall and true
MacDonagh, Clarke, and Plunkett, and the brave ones fighting too
They knew the price of freedom, they knew the cost of love
Just like the Lamb on Calvary, they gave their all above
Oh, the cross and the harp, they rise as one
Christ the King and the men of '16, their battle's never done
From Calvary's hill to Kilmainham's wall
The sacrifice still calls us, hear the nation's call
They died so we could live (Hey!)
They died so we could stand (Hey!)
Now Irish hearts rise up again and take our Savior's hand
They cursed them in the streets, the very people that they saved
Yet every drop they offered turned the tide and freed the slave
Fifteen martyrs faced the rifles, calm and proud they stood
Like Jesus on the cross, they prayed for Ireland's good
Their blood became the seed that grew the green flag high
And still it waves above us underneath the Irish sky
Today the fight is different, but the enemy's the same
A godless tide is rising, trying to erase our name
Yet brave sons and daughters stand where the old ones stood before
Defending hearth and altar on this green and ancient shore
We fight not just with rifles, we fight with truth and prayer
To bring the King of Heaven back to every heart that's there
Oh, can you feel it rising? The same fire in our veins
The Lamb who died on Friday rose on Sunday just the same
So let the old men sing their songs and the young ones take the flame
We'll restore the Sacred Heart to every Irish name
Oh, the cross and the harp, they rise as one
Christ the King and the men of '16, their battle's never done
From Calvary's hill to the streets we walk today
We'll crown Him King of Ireland, let the whole world hear us say
They died so we could live (Hey!)
They died so we could stand (Hey!)
Now Irish hearts rise up again and take our Savior's hand
From Calvary to the GPO, from Kilmainham to the dawn
Christ the King is rising, and Ireland marches on
