The Wampanoag girl, who many years before dreamed the island of
Tall trees, and the men, women, and children coming ashore to
Settle, dreams her dream once again. Now an old and blind woman
Her dream is even more disturbing. After the first ship of settlers
She sees many more following, until thousands have come to settle
Where the Wampanoag tribe once lived. It is a bitter, snowbound
Day, and the old blind woman predicts that before long, the
First of the settlers will arrive, and her dream will come true
At last, they're within sight of land. Driven hundreds of miles off
Course by the storms, and now low on provisions, the decision is made
To establish the new colony here. Tensions run high between the
Separatists and the other passengers, who resent taking
Orders from the Separatists. A document is drawn up
That becomes known as the Mayflower Compact. In it
A declaration of government, a new model of democracy
Dear Isle of England, so long and goodbye
The blood of our fathers is all but run dry
Hand in hand we have come here
Holding fast now together
Dear Isle of England, so long and farewell
For this new world whispers of tales we can tell
Hand in hand we will suffer
Holding strong now together
Dear Isle of England, so far on the seas
Once our great homeland, now we're exiled and free
Hand in hand we will shelter
Holding fast now together
Dear Isle of England, so long and goodbye
The blood of our fathers is all but run dry
