Despots prefer the friendship of the dog
Who, unjustly mistreated and debased
Still loves and serves the man who wronged him
Tyrants view educated citizens
As their greatest enemy
When thinkers rise, empires are challenged
When they fall silent, tyrants win
Humor and mockery can reveal
Tyrants, ideologues, and fools
That is why some people hate them so much
Truth is the greatest enemy
Of tyrants everywhere
The gears of narcissism propel the dictator
And how tempting it is to shift them into overdrive
While drunk on power
The genocidal hangover comes later
I don't know what's wrong with this world
But I do know what's right with it: Love
I have studied enough history to see
That no matter how cruel the behavior of tyrants
And no matter how dark the moments have been
Love has always prevailed

Education is rebellion
