I was just a kid in a house full of chaos

Smell of cold nights, heavy footsteps, no days off

Mama kept hurt but she tried to stay strong

Every single bruise felt like proof she held on

Sister by the doorway, tears like rain

Little hands shaking while she whispered my name

I told her, 'We good,' even though I wasn't sure

Fear sat deep like a wound with no cure

Reading from a book tryna drown out screams

Tryna paint calm over war-zone scenes

Heat in my chest like fire in a cage

Childhood gone before I hit that age

Man walked past with a shadow in his eyes

Voice too calm, like he practiced his lies

Said, 'Y'all alright' with a cold steel tone

But evil never hides when you've lived this long
