"Back In Your Arms Again" is a song that I wrote with Seth Walker and
Gary Nicholson on one of the Delbert McClinton cruises, before there
Was even talk of the Mavericks. And Seth comes up to me and says, "
Man, I got a song started with Gary that I think the Mavericks would
Kill." There was not even a conversation of the Mavericks getting
Back together. And then when I heard the song, the melody and the
Groove, I'm like, "Oh, yeah, of course." So you could say that this
All started with that song. It really did put the band together. And
I think that was the first song we recorded, or the second one, we
Recorded it early on. And that, as it does every night all across
The world, it set the tone for what was coming next. And so it's
Funny 'cause it's a beautiful little song, you know, really, but
It's more than that. It's got this groove and the tempo of it
I don't know what it is. I mean, I've tried to dissect it really
And I always try to just naturally try to dissect and destroy the
Songs as to why they work and why they don't. And that one just
Works on so many levels and you see it night after night. And it
Really fueled that whole session, and we're still feeding off that
Energy. It means now what it meant back then. It's the start of
Something. Yeah, I feel like fans, the line itself, "Back in your
Arms again," that like we were back in their arms and they were
Back in our arms. It was like a fan band love fest or something
Conversation, sure. Yeah, you know, and it has remained that way
