ASHES

My mind is a wild fire burning bright

Uncontrolled it light up my nights

Flames dance high I can't stand still

A force of nature bending to my will

But inside I'm craving something more

A quiet place beyond the roar

The ashes fall but they don't stay

I'm always rising burning away

But I'm searching for the cool for the still

A place where the fire won't break me

I'm tired of blazing burning too fast

Chasing the peace that never last

I'm a fire that won't go out burning from inside

Trying to find balance in the flames I hide

The heat pulls me under but I won't let go

I'm fighting to calm in the afterglow

And though I'm made of flames I'm seeking the rain

Looking for peace through the ashes and pain

I've got a sparks flying lighting my dark

But every flare leaves a burning mark

I rise and fall with every spark

Trying to control the wildfire in my heart

I'm not broken just hard to hold

A blaze untamed both bright and bold

But they don't see the cost it takes

To burn so high without a break

But I'm looking for the cool for the still
