Daddy walked into the jail one night, Bible in his hand
To preach to the broken, lost in a barren land
An old TV in the corner blared, a man began to scheme
Tall as a mountain, rough as sand, the biggest he'd ever seen
The cord hung just beyond the bars, so Dad reached out and yanked
The TV went from loud to dead, like a ship that finally sank
The big man dropped down from his bunk, his temper burning red
But Daddy didn't flinch or move - he preached the Word instead
He said, There's a love that's stronger than your might
There's a grace that shines even in your darkest night
No chain too heavy, no soul too far
For the One who reaches down through the bars
The inmate climbed back on his bunk, heart heavy, eyes low
Wrestling with a war inside no one else could know
Dad said, There's someone here still holding back tonight
And silence fell like thunder under that flickering light
From the shadows came a voice, rough and torn
He said, Preacher, I'm the one - been lost since I was born
With tears rolling down, he gave Jesus his heart
And the chains he carried finally fell apart
He said, There's a love that's stronger than your might
There's a grace that shines even in your darkest night
No chain too heavy, no soul too far
For the One who reaches down through the bars
No chain too heavy, no soul too far
For the One who reaches down through the bars
