A time in my past, I had just turned five

It was Halloween night, never felt so alive

Held a bright orange pumpkin pail, from Mickey D's

'Twas my brother's (Then twelve) but he gave it to me

So we walked, and we stalked, every street

Every house we would trick for a treat

With my big brother's McPumpkin pail

Through the night, with delight, we would wail

It felt so good to be

We'd forget all our squabbles and kid rivalry

Though at home he had started to stray

Out on All Hallows' Eve we could play

To the brim, I would fill it

With candy, then spill it

The sweet jack-o'-lantern that made such a face

On that bright orange bucket, now has faded a trace

For I lovingly used it each year after year

Now three decades on, I'm still glad that it's near

On a shelf, in my room, where I see

How it smiles at me tenderly
