Ordinary Child Of God

I'm watching all these bodies walking around

Like they're fighting through hell with no way out

The world's gone sideways and there's no one here to turn it right

Working my way through a day gone blue

Trying to live my life like the good ones do

But the devil's calling and it's getting too hard to fight

I'm just another face lost in the crowd

Just another voice talking too loud

I'm just another ordinary child of God

But God

Why do you make it so hard?

Everything is changing and it's happening fast

Trying to keep up but still stuck in the past

How can I move forward when my feet feel frozen to the ground?

So many gone, they've been taken away

Did they make it to heaven or are they haunting this place?

We're left picking up the pieces but some pieces just can't be found

I just another face lost in the crowd

I'd go home but it seems alien now

I don't recognize a soul, feels like a different town

At least I can still go there in the old cities of my mind

And even though it seems like nobody cares

I still wake up every day saying my prayers

Not sure they're being heard, but I still gotta give it a try
