Every night I pray
For a future brighter than we have today
It's not for me
There is nothing I need
But, my wife and children sure could use some things
It's not that they complain
But, In this man's world they're everything
They hold every ounce of love inside me
I think they deserve more
Than my measly pay can afford

A Father's wish list
Hear my prayer lord
Help me give them this
Protection for my youngest daughter
When she tries to save the world don't let it harm her
Give my only son some good sense
Sincere pride and the brains to know the difference
Help my oldest daughter see
Her inner strength and her own beauty
Humble my second lovely girl and guide her
You'll give my wife peace of mind
If you will only do this
So, hear me tonight
As I write a Father's wish list
I've tried to be
The man that they need
But what I say
And the choices I've made
Don't seem to be the same thing
They grow up so fast
So, I'd really like to change
Help me turn these things around
Before it's too late
They'll love me either way
Daddy's girls and my Son the same
They think I'm the hero of their story
But you know who I've been
The things done, all the words I've said
