As I travel around over the country in a Benz, I'm in show business
Now, people ask me about interesting people that I have met. Well
I wanna tell the world that I thank God for Loretta Lynn. At long
Last, I have met a fine individual who is as country as I am. Now
I pride myself in being country. I did get a degree from Mississippi
State University in the School of Agriculture, and I can talk out
Agronomy talk to you, and y'all wouldn't even know I was country
But I am country. I grew up poor in the country. I can draw up a
Bucket of water by letting the windlass unwind and the bucket go
Down in the well and draw up a bucket and never disturb the well
I got that country touch. I can put a jar of High Life in a big
Drum of shelled peas and kill every weevil in them black-eyed peas
But won't get enough in there to hurt you if you eat 'em. I'm
Country. I have done that. I can keep a settin' hen from quittin'
The nest just by cluckin' to 'er. I'm that country. I can prepare
Chitlins, fresh creek, slung, or stump whupped, whichever way you
Want it. I am country, but upside Loretta Lynn, I'm a city slicker
