The Sword That Pierced Me

I held You once beneath a sky of stars

Now darkness crowns the hill of scars

They told me I was blessed and favored

The angel said, "He will reign forever"

But now He hangs with thorns for glory

And I bleed in silence beneath His story

I once rocked You, lullabies in moonlight

Now I hear Your breath slip into the night

Your hands that healed, now pierced and torn

And my soul breaks where hope was born

O God, did I say yes to this

To cradle the Lamb, then witness this abyss

The sword You spoke has found its place

It tares through bone, through time, through grace

You walked on waves, You called the dead

You broke the bread, You bowed Your head

And now the sky forgets to shine

As I lose the Child that once was mine

"He shall be called the Son Most High"

Then why must He be left to die

"The Lord is with you" - are You still

When blood runs cold on Calvary's hill

Yes, I said yes, I still do now

Though pain has crowned my every vow

The sword that pierced me carved His name

Into the tomb, into my shame
