I've been to the end and back now more times than I can remember
It's only a little over a mile round trip
The fastest I ever did it was at seven minutes and 43 seconds I think
When someone once told me the difference between 80% and 100% is 100
That's definitely true of the road
It's just like the last 30 seconds before you can touch the gate
That's when most folks give up
The thing about that last stretch is not just that it's nasty
It burns like hell
The gate's tucked around a corner, if you could see the gate
I bet a lot more people would make it
That's why it's so much easier after the first time
Way back's the best though, you're all long strided and full of adrenaline
You still feel it in your hand when you touch the gate
