Built & Bled
Started with a piece of pine
Older than the name I carry,
From a barn that watched a family grow
Before this world got loud and scary.
Cut it down and shaped it clean,
Turned sawdust into faith-
Every splinter told the truth
Of where I come from, what I faced.
Had a blueprint in my mind
But I built it with a scarred-up hand-
Ain't no factory-made creation,
This is where a real man stands.
This ain't just wood and wire,
It's everything I've lived-
Every mile I dragged behind me,
Every second I forgave.
Yeah, I built it, then I played it,
Then I bled and called it mine.
If you want to know my story-
You can hear it through the pine.
Learned chords like a grown man crawlin',
Ain't ashamed to suck at something-
Earned every blister on my fingers,
Every note that kept on thumping.
Wrote down truth with no disguise,
Put sunsets into sound-
Made scars rhyme with redemption,
Made peace from solid ground.
Didn't need a crowd or spotlight,
Didn't need applause to stand-
Just me and that guitar
Built by a bruised but steady hand.
This ain't just wood and wire,
It's everything I've lived-
Every mile I dragged behind me,
Every second I forgave.
Yeah, I built it, then I played it,
Then I bled and called it mine.
If you want to know my story-
You can hear it through the pine.
I ain't chasing polished battles,
Ain't pretending none of this hurt-
Just turned heartbreak into rhythm,
Turned mistakes into the dirt.
And one day when I lay down
And they fold my name away-
They can play this thing I built
And hear every storm I faced.
'Cause this ain't just wood and wire,
It's every breath I didn't waste-
Every sunrise I believed in,
Every ghost I had to face.
Yeah, I built it, then I played it,
Then I bled and signed my name-
And that Tele's still on fire
'Cause I fed it life and flame.
...Every mile I ever lived...
Is still ringing in these strings.
