My mama's mother was My grandma
I remember that little House where she lived With my grandpa
It seemed so big - just Two rooms, two beds
They prayed and loved The Lord for all He said
In that small house is Where I long to be
The kindness of their Hearts was something To see
They trusted the Lord Thanked Him for Everything
And never forgot a Prayer for me
Watch, listen, don't Forget what you see
The Lord cherishes the Poor and the weak
Hallelujah, oh Hallelujah
Sweet Lord, thank You For those memories
I cry now 'cause I know What they mean
Here on my knees Hallelujah, God is King
That little house with The storm fence
Grandpa feedin' Chickens, workin' with His hands, heaven-sent
One day he said softly To me
The world will come for You, boy, just be aware You'll see
I was only seven, but I Knew what he meant
Those words still echo Like the day he said Them
He said, That fence is to Help keep the world out
And keep us safe within
Watch, listen, don't Forget what you see
The Lord cherishes the Poor and the weak
Hallelujah, oh Hallelujah
Sweet Lord, thank You For those memories
I cry now 'cause I know What they mean
Here on my knees Hallelujah, God is King
She wore her best House dress
Flowers, lavender and Blue
Her apron stained with Breakfast, lunch, and Supper too
Hallelujah, hallelujah She sang
I can almost feel her Presence still today
As she moved 'round That little kitchen
She sang and prayed to The Lord most of the Day
Then one day I heard The news
Grandpa passed - my Heart was bruised
My teacher, my friend My love gone away
I fell to the floor and I Prayed that day
Not a year went by Before Grandma said Goodbye
Now she's with Jesus Side by side.
My mama's mother was My grandma
Yes, she was, love was What she showed me
And my grandpa taught Me to be strong
In that little house Where faith belonged
That storm fence he Built to keep the world Out
Was truly made to keep The wonderful in - no Doubt
Hallelujah, hallelujah
That little house still Lives within
