I'm looking back

On the memories I can't seem to release

Looking for His peace, I know my heart He will defend

I know my Father is here with me, it's on Him I can depend

He knows the things I struggle with, the way that I am bent

And He loves me more than anyone, no reason to pretend

I made my way from the mountain range of the Appalachian trails

To the blinding lights and the city nights, and that is where I fell

I stumbled through the desolate places

Roads that are paved with sin and hell

I was suicidal upon arrival, and that wasn't hard to tell

And before I knew it

I was staring up at Him while I sat there in a cell

And though I never knew it, He's the one my heart felt

My King, come and save me

If uncertainty's the mode of travel, then I'm stepping through the black

He's a light to my feet, the voice behind me

And His arms are never slack

I'm letting go of the woes behind me

I can trust Him and that's a fact

I need Him more than ever, and I'm never going back
