I've been kneeling in the dark

Praying to a sky with no stars

Is it Heaven I'm talking to

Or just the echo of my scars?

Every promise feels like smoke

Slippin' through my fingers

Every word of hope you spoke

Still in my blood it lingers

You said truth would set me free

But chains still hold my name

Am I saved or just deceived

By a preacher's hungry flame?

I'm choking on your scripture

But thirsty for the rain

I can't tell if this salvation

Is worth the weight of pain

Tell me am I blind or blessed?

Is this holy water

Or poison on my chest?

Do I bow or do I break?

Is this mercy that you're giving

Or just another stake?

You paint Heaven in gold and white

But your eyes are black as coal

You sell light to the desperate night

While you're feeding on their souls

I've been walking on glass

Calling it a narrow way

But the road to truth feels more like fire

And I'm burning every day

I've bled for your altar

I've wept at your gates

If love's at the end

Why's it guarded by hate?

If God is real He'll hear my cry

If He's not then watch me rise!
