Hard Time

Dreaming of where the wind don't know my name

Where it won't howl at my heels a harsh refrain

Sidestepping the weeds that reach for me

Brambles and thorns sick with antipathy

Alive on the breeze

Streetlights all go dark when I walk by

Around every corner danger lies

Dreaming of where a shadow's just a shadow

A place I spent my whole life trying to find

Something wicked comes

Like a dark communion

Dark moments exist in the brightest places

And endless hollow home stand evident

The flower, all but thorns

Its petals lost in the downpour
