Learning to Fly

We were soaring so high

Just you and I

Now I'm left asking why

Did our love have to die?

Started off with just a mischevious peek

Never did I know this thing would grow into a menacing beast

Now it's full blown and I can't seem to resist

Someone tell the DJ that I need to be remixed

This is no hype, you can put an 'X' on me cuz I been deceased

Just when I thought I was flying high close to heaven's door

Fell back to the same junk invited seven more

I never score that's what my pride's revealing

Sinking in condemnation high to the ceiling

But Jesus came to provide the healing

And I don't know what you might be dealing with, but life is silly

So let's just crack a laugh

Pain tatted on my heart in the form of scars in the dark on my face I wear a happy mask

I had it bad and everything has changed if you had to ask

The savior set me free, amazing grace and that's a fact

Difference is I have a dad who won't leave me stranded

No matter how far I fall I can thank Him that these feet landed

Fell so many times trying to take flight

Did so many wrongs now I'm trying to make right

Only cuz the love of Christ stay burning inside

Brought a wretched sinner like me to bathe up in His blood

I was chasing temptation embracing death's statement

But Christ had the key to break chains that enslaved me

Mercy rules in my life cuz He paid sin's price I promise my debt was so crazy

You seen me sinking, but my God has lifted me up

Heart shattered in pieces, but my God is picking'em up

And given me love beyond repair

Good news I'm here to share

But to those who reject the truth, beware

Only those clothed in Christ will fare

By His mercy I'm being led to new heights

Wasn't 'til I seen I was dead needing new life
