Paul & Silas in Jail

We must love, we must love

For Jesus cares for us

'Cause you all know Him

He is our only trust

Whatever we desire

Whenever we do pray

We must have faith and belief

And He will do just what He says

Oh Paul and Silas

In the Philippi jail they were both bound

'Cause they believed in Jesus

They found Him close around

And in the dark hour of midnight

When everything was still

Oh Paul whispered to Silas

"Let us do our Master's will"

Oh Silas, he began singing

Oh Paul, he answered in prayer

Then heaven, the ground all stood up

And an angel met them there

And the jail doors flew open

And the jailer thought they were all gone

And he pulled forth his sword to kill himself

But Paul said, "Do yourself no harm"

He sprung out on the floor

In the light he wanted them to gaze

He replied to Paul and Silas

"What shall I do to be saved?"

And Paul being one of Christ's children

Seeing this jailer curled in fright

He said, "You must believe

In my Savior Jesus Christ"

I'm going home, I'm going home

I'm going home on the morning train

If I happen to make it too late

Oh sure it won't be my aim

I'm sweeping up this old temple body

And ascending those golden stairs

Over the place that Paul called heaven

I'll meet my Savior there
