Lazy Saturday...
Didn't think the day would go anywhere.
Sometimes the best stories start that way.
Woke up late, sunlight through the blinds
Nothing on the schedule, just killing time
Fan spinning slow in a quiet room
Whole day looking like an empty afternoon
Neighborhood still, not a sound in the street
Then my phone rang loud with a rhythm and beat
My friend said, "Grab your rod and your tackle box too
We heading to the water and the sky's bright blue."
Said the lake look smooth like a sheet of glass
Warm summer wind blowing through the grass
Said some girls showed up with that sunshine glow
I said, "Give me five minutes... I'm ready to go."
Saturday turnt up, started slow this morning
One phone call and the whole day started forming
Fishing lines dancing where the warm winds blow
Didn't know where the night was about to go
Saturday turnt up, sun on our skin
Girls with the tan lines, cut-off jeans again
From the dock to the laughter and the daylight fun
Didn't know the best part hadn't even begun
Pulled to the lake with the sun overhead
Fishing rods bouncing in the truck bed
Cast that line where the shadows fall
Watching that bobber slowly rise and fall
Then it dipped down fast and the reel went tight
Big largemouth flashing in the sunlight
Everybody cheering from the end of the pier
Summer laughter echoing loud and clear
Girls on the dock with their feet in the lake
Hair blowing wild in the heat and the wake
Someone yelled "Jump in!" and we dove from the side
Cold water splashing in a wave of pride
Grill fired up as the evening came
Smoke in the air and the sky aflame
Music drifting somewhere down the block
Like a party waking up the whole neighborhood clock
Saturday turnt up, didn't plan the ride
Just a fishing pole and some friends by my side
Sunset glowing as the night showed up
Didn't know the whole town was about to turn up
Saturday turnt up, laughter everywhere
Summer night rhythm floating through the air
Followed that music through the neighborhood dark
Till we saw the lights from a garage down the block
Garage door open, speakers stacked high
DJ spinning records while the crowd passed by
Girls dancing barefoot in the driveway light
Whole neighborhood moving in the summer night
Bassline jumping and the crowd lit up
Everybody singing with their hands thrown up
I froze for a second when the chorus dropped
Wait... hold up...
That's my voice... coming out those speakers on the block.
DJ yelling loud through the microphone stand
"This next one's from a hometown man!"
Whole crowd shouting when the hook showed up
Everybody singing Saturday turnt up.
Saturday turnt up, now the whole block know
Started with a phone call hours ago
From the lake to the party where the speakers erupt
Now the whole crowd singing Saturday turnt up
Saturday turnt up, music in the night
Girls dancing under garage door light
Didn't plan it, didn't see it coming but
Now the whole world shouting Saturday turnt up
