Phantom Faces

I can still find hope in random places

And even though everyone that I meet

Has on these phantom faces

I can still thrive

And create a peace of mind

You see

I don't mind that people come and go

I don't mind that they pretend

And put on a show

Hence why

I'm forever in the state

Of a standing ovation

I don't get comfortable

I never settle in

It's like I'm on vacation

On a flight

Just never fitting in

Everyone is wearing a mask

They are putting on those phantom faces

I won't lose myself just to fill those spaces

People act like movies now, without character traces

So I live like a season, slow growth, long phases

The actors are amazing though

There are times when I remove a sneaker or two

When the jacket comes off

The hoodie does too

You see

I enjoy the acting that makes me feel some type of way

I love Love

Yet as it blinds me

I find myself at the end of the day

Alone, annoyed

Putting on my clothes without any joy

Everyone is wearing a mask

I won't lose myself just to fill those spaces

People act like movies now, without character traces

So I live like a season, slow growth, long phases

I have seasons' worth with my childhood friends

But my co-workers?

They feel like movies

So I just skip to the end

I'd rather watch shows

That have at least five seasons

Movies are cool

But they have the highest risk of treason

The drama, plus the plot twist

You'll get the full dose of it

Without any development

In comparison to shows

It's just too quick
