This one's for when you ain't proud but you still know who holds you

Straight out of Psalm 51

Have mercy on me God, you know me best

Blot out the stains that got stuck on my chest

I've been running from truth, hiding my mess

But you still call my name in the middle of the test

Wash me clean, make me new again

I've been tired of pretending I don't sin

You desire honesty deep within

So I open up my heart, come in

Purge me with hyssop, let it rinse

White as snow, no evidence

Renew my spirit, man it make it tense

Keep me close, don't make me flinch

Create in me a clean heart, oh God

Renew a right spirit within

Cast me not away from your presence, Lord

Take not your spirit from me again

I've been broke down, soul on low

Try to fix it but you stole the show

Bones you crushed now they start to glow

Joy return will your mercy flow

Don't let guilt be my cage no more

Open my lips, I'll praise for sure

Teach me lessons, keep me pure

Broken spirit, you will restore

Sacrifice ain't just smoke and flames

With a heart, bowed low, that bears your name

You ain't asking for a show or fame

You just want real love, no shame
