I used to run for everyone

Till I was barely breathing

Gave away my open hours

To things I stopped believing

I wore myself like borrowed shoes

That never seemed to fit

Till I found out self-respect

Is saying no and meaning it

My life is not a wishing well

For every passing need

I won't pour out my time again

For things that don't grow me

I won't spend my days on what won't make me whole

My time is not a river you control

I don't owe my hours to your plans or your ego

If it costs my peace

Then my answer is no

I choose where my time goes

I learned that busy isn't brave

And silence isn't weak

I'm done with smiling just to please

While my own dreams fall asleep

Now I stand guard at my door

With patience, truth and grace

Not everything deserves a yes

Not everyone my space

My life is built on what I love

Not what I'm forced to prove

If something doesn't lift me up

I'll kindly let it move
