Someone shouted room 2 but the sign said Don't Allow

Pushed my way into the room saw Billy-Jo not moving

My minds a-flashing fast and it looks like he's not winning

I leaned over Billy-Jo and whispered in his ear

Put my hand upon his head just to let him know I'm here

No more miles to travel to see him laying down here

My mind is now a-racing and I'm facing some despair

The Doc came in and touched his head and said now it's up to him

The next few hours will tell the tale but now it's looking dim

I waited there for hours and hours my hand upon his head

Then suddenly I felt a move that was coming from the bed

His foot was moving slightly and his breathing seem to better

One eye opened then the other then they opened both together

Billy-Jo's head lifted so slightly and he gently licked my arm

I knew right then he was back and for sure was out of harm

The one thing I'll remember from all of this emotion

That this dog is my best friend and will always have my devotion
