"Little Red Hen"

Once upon a time, on a sunny farm

Lived a little red hen, so full of charm

She liked to get up early each day

While lazy dog, cat, and cow snored away

One morning, as she pecked around

The hen found wheat seeds on the ground

She happily clapped, "Oh, what a treat!"

I'll make some tasty bread with this wheat

"Who'll help me plant this wheat?" She said

The other animals shook their heads

"Not I," said the dog, "Not I," said the cat

"Not I," said the cow, and that was that

"Alright, I'll do it myself," said hen

She dug some holes in the soil then

And planted the seeds, gold and small

Little seeds grow strong and tall

"Who'll help me water them?" She said

The other animals shook their heads

"Not I," groan dog, "Not I," groan cat

"Not I," groan cow, and that was that

"Alright, I'll do it myself," said hen

She filled her watering can up then

And gave the sleeping seeds a shower

Little seed grow big and flower

The weed grow up so very tall

Hen clucked, "Now let's harvest it all"

"Not I," sighed dog and cat and cow

So by herself, hen cut it down

Who'll take this wheat to the mill now

"Not I," groan dog and cat and cow

So poor old hen heaped the sack aloft

And ground it down into flour, so soft

"Who will help me knead the bread?"

Dog and cat and cow shook their heads

So the hen she pitted and patted the dough

Until lovely bread was ready to go

"Who'll help me bake the bread?" Said hen

But nobody seemed very interested then

"Not I," winch dog, "Not I," winch cat

"Not I," winch cow, and that was that

In the oven, red hen baked her bread

Until it was golden brown and fresh

She took it out and it smelled delicious

Warm and soft and totally scrumptious

"Who will help me eat the bread?" She said
