Grief

It's like love

In that it's a falling

A tremendous spiraling

Out of control

The difference is

The direction of the falling

With love

You fall towards someone

With grief

You fall away

It's like with Alice

Everything is a wonderland

Everything is as it should be

Until you stumble upon this hole

In the earth you can't ignore

You look over its edge

Down into its depths

And then you plummet

Down you fall

Belly up

Staring wide-eyed

At the love

You once knew

Shrinking above you

This is grief

Grief

It's a severing of everything

That had become so

Beautifully ordinary
