I got your list, and I checked it twice

I can't afford anything this nice

Besides, the roads are all covered in ice

Shouldn't drive in these conditions

I thought about telling you the truth

That Santa Claus ain't up on the roof

But then, I realized that's a sad excuse

So you might as well keep wishing

The angels are signing something

But I can't make out the words

And the turkey's in the oven, but I'm sure it's gonna burn

The light are fading out

And there is no snow on the ground

It's a not so merry Christmas without you still around

Salvation Army keeps askin' for change

I keep on walking and I look away

I slam the door on my Chevrolet

Hope that I can find forgiveness

And the carolers are on the street, but all my lights are off

I've known the words for all my life, but I can't sing along

Well, it's another silent night

I grew up thinking that the movies were right

And everybody wants a wonderful life

No miracles on my street tonight

And I've giving up on wishing

The church bells were ringing, deck the halls

They try to sell me joy and laughter at the shopping mall
