This year we had our family reunion and I went back home

Went back to some of the places that I visited as a child

When I went by some of my relatives' houses

They took me to the little church where I sang my first song

In the back there's a cemetery

I went out there and saw the places

Where some of my loved ones, where they laid

Some of the name was erased, but in the spot was still there

And I asked him, I said, "Where's that old house that we used to live in?"

We even went by that old house

It wasn't there no more, but the site and the spot is still there

And when I sing this song

I think about when I go back home sometime

I believe I'll sing it for you tonight, listen

I went through the house where I used to live

The grass had grown up and covered up the door

And you know, someone across the street asked me, "Who do you seek?"

They said, no one, no one lived there anymore, ooh (listen)

Then I went to the church house where I used to go

That old preacher was still there, and he met me at the door

"I know who you are" (this is what he said to me)

"And I know who you're looking for" (this is what he told me)

He said, "They, they don't come here anymore", ooh

I said, "Where are they?"
