I don't know when it started

This feeling I've a long way to go

Half a lifetime's work

And not that much to show

Searching for perfection

Second guessing everything

To carve a thousand birds

And never hear them sing

I can imagine the inside out

From the darkness the light will come

Get into the shadows

To let the light escape

Who'd have thought creation

Would take so much away?

Never enough

Dreams slowly burn and turned into ash

Go through the motions, keep showing up

Carve to feel nothing, work for the silence

Cut for relief

The choice is now (the choice is now)

Will I always wonder if it's the time (if it's the time)

To make the connection?

Heart to the hand, hand to the blade

Dreams manifest, glory displayed

Searching for a place

Find a different way

Let go what has gone

And cannot be returned

I never thought a dream could survive this long

In the dark, like a flame without fuel

With flutters and sparks, clings on to life

Almost gone, almost invisible

If I walk away, I'll always wonder

Maybe I'm wrong to build up the blaze

Let in the air, take a deep breath

And watch it breathe into life
